For leg liposuction, three primary areas are targeted: the outer thighs, inner thighs, and the medial knee region.
1. Outer Thighs:
Fat accumulation on the lateral thighs often accompanies hypertrophy above the medial knee. Preoperative assessment should meticulously measure lateral thigh fat thickness and mark the degree of protrusion.During suction, avoid removing fat from the gluteal fossa to prevent deformities.
The residual thickness of skin and subcutaneous fat should match surrounding areas. Avoid excessive suction to prevent postoperative adhesions and prominent bony landmarks.
2. Inner Thigh:
Medial thigh liposuction: The skin in this area is thin, and the fat is soft. Bleeding is common during surgery, and results are less stable than on the lateral thigh. Care must be taken not to remove excessive fat, which could create a noticeable gap between the inner thighs.
3. Medial Knee:
Fat accumulation is most common on the medial knee. Liposuction here is relatively straightforward with minimal bleeding, allowing for thorough removal.
Of course, the effectiveness of leg liposuction depends on individual circumstances. A reasonable division of these three areas is essential before proceeding with surgery.
