Parents should be vigilant if children exhibit symptoms like convulsions and high fever without diarrhea, as these may indicate acute enteritis or toxic bacterial dysentery. Seek medical attention promptly.
Acute gastroenteritis typically begins with abdominal pain, often localized in the upper abdomen or around the navel. The pain may range from mild dull discomfort to severe, unbearable cramping, frequently occurring in episodes. Patients may also hear their own bowel sounds.
3. Nausea and vomiting.
Severe cases may involve vomiting, often with a sour odor.
Severe vomiting and diarrhea can lead to dehydration, acidosis, or even shock. Additionally, headaches, fever, chills, and muscle pain may accompany acute gastroenteritis.

The above outlines the symptoms and treatment approaches for gastroenteritis. Maintaining daily health practices to prevent gastroenteritis is also essential.
Daily Management for Gastroenteritis:
1. Adhere to Long-Term Medication: Gastrointestinal disorders are chronic conditions prone to recurrence. Complete recovery requires consistent, long-term medication. Never abruptly discontinue medication upon slight improvement, nor switch medications capriciously—e.g., changing drugs after just a few days if symptoms don’t improve immediately.Typically, a treatment course lasts 1–3 months. After pain subsides, consolidation therapy should continue for 1–2 months or longer.
2. Maintain a regular lifestyle and monitor weather changes: Patients should establish consistent routines, avoiding excessive fatigue. Overwork impairs digestion and hinders recovery. Those with gastrointestinal ulcers must prioritize rest and adhere to regular daily schedules.Since gastrointestinal ulcer flare-ups correlate with weather changes, patients should monitor climate shifts and adjust clothing and bedding according to seasonal temperatures. 3. Maintain dietary hygiene: Picky eating, irregular meal patterns, excessive consumption of cold beverages or foods, or craving spicy foods, strong tea, coffee, and other irritants can disrupt digestive function and hinder recovery.Maintaining dietary hygiene—eating regular, moderate meals at consistent times, avoiding extremes of hunger or fullness, and chewing food thoroughly—is a beneficial habit for gastrointestinal recovery.
4. Avoid medications harmful to the gastric mucosa: Drugs like aspirin, dexamethasone, and prednisone irritate the stomach lining and may worsen gastric ulcers. If necessary due to illness, consult your doctor to switch to alternative medications or use adjunct therapies as prescribed to minimize gastrointestinal side effects.
