Many new mothers worry when their babies develop "fetal toxins." So what exactly are fetal toxins?
Fetal toxins refer to the colloquial term for acute postpartum allergic reactions, primarily manifesting as various skin hypersensitivity responses such as boils, scabies, and rashes.The Outline of Pediatrics records: "In newborn infants, within months or up to two years of age, sores may suddenly appear around the head, face, and lips. These are fine as millet grains, with white pus heads that rupture and merge into patches. They cause heat, swelling, pain, and itching, constantly oozing a pale yellow, foul-smelling pus.Healthy skin nearby, once contaminated by the yellow pus, quickly develops sores. Initially, the skin surface becomes ulcerated and swollen. If left untreated, it gradually spreads to the superficial layers of muscle, causing pale red swelling and ulceration. If improperly treated over time, it can spread from the head and face to cover the entire body. This is what is known as fetal toxins."The Compendium of Pediatrics states: "Manifestations of fetal toxins include insect bites, impetigo, damp sores, boils, abscesses, tubercles, swollen or stiff tongues, thrush, and oral ulcers, as well as fetal heat, fetal cold, fetal convulsions, and neonatal jaundice.This condition primarily arises when expectant or new mothers excessively consume pungent, hot, rich, or greasy foods, or due to improper lifestyle management, emotional distress such as anger, grief, or frustration, leading to toxins being transmitted to the fetus.
