A new discovery by Swedish scientists has gone viral on Weibo, with nearly a thousand reposts. The post claims that girls who drink more than three cups of coffee daily may experience breast size reduction. Tumor researchers found that half of women carry a specific gene which, when exposed to caffeine, causes breast tissue to shrink and effectively prevents breast cancer. But is this true?Yesterday, a reporter consulted experts in genetics and breast health. They explained that metabolic genes in the human body cause varying rates of caffeine absorption and metabolism, potentially leading to reduced bust size. However, this is unrelated to daily coffee consumption. Moreover, daily coffee intake may increase the risk of breast cancer.
Daily coffee consumption may lead to breast size reduction
"Our bodies do contain genes that regulate breast size, just as height, weight, appearance, and physical traits are shaped by multiple interacting genes," explained Qi Ming, Director of the Genetics Department at Zhejiang University First Affiliated Hospital, whose work focuses on genetic research. While he had not heard the rumor linking coffee to breast reduction,he explained that the CYP1A2*1F gene mentioned in the British Journal of Cancer paper belongs to a large family with numerous variants, all crucial for human metabolism. For instance, the rate at which food and medications are metabolized by the liver and kidneys varies significantly among individuals—sometimes by more than 300-fold—and this variation is controlled by such genes."Some people require many times the standard dose of a food or medication to feel any effect, while others react strongly to just a small amount. That's the magic of these genes," Qi Ming speculated. Daily coffee consumption might indeed shrink bust size because differing rates of caffeine absorption and metabolism—under certain pathological conditions—could trigger distinct metabolic responses, leading to reduced breast tissue.
These Breast-Enhancing Foods Help You Upgrade to a C Cup
Papaya
Papaya is China's top traditional choice for breast enhancement. It is exceptionally rich in vitamin A, and vitamin A deficiency can hinder estrogen synthesis. Traditional Chinese medicine considers papaya sweet and neutral in nature, aiding digestion, strengthening the stomach, nourishing the body, and promoting lactation. It also serves as a dietary remedy for those with poor digestion.Papaya can be consumed with milk, incorporated into dishes, or prepared as porridge. Red dates are a traditional food for regulating endocrine function, nourishing blood, and enhancing complexion. Paired with lotus seeds, they also regulate menstruation, boost energy, and nourish the body.
Red Dates
Traditional Chinese medicine classifies red dates as qi-tonifying herbs, noting their sweet and neutral nature. They moisturize the heart and lungs, relieve coughs, nourish the five organs, and treat deficiency syndromes. For those with poor gastrointestinal motility or weak digestion and absorption, regularly consuming red dates can improve digestive function and boost physical strength.Smooth bowel movements eliminate toxins, naturally slimming the waist and abdomen.
Additionally, fresh jujubes are rich in vitamins E and C, both beneficial for maintaining breast shape and promoting breast development.
Milk
Milk is rich in whey protein and calcium, both of which help boost metabolism and promote abdominal fat burning. Additionally, milk contains significant amounts of B vitamins, which are essential for the body's synthesis of estrogen, contributing to fuller breasts. The vitamin E in oats promotes ovarian development and function, aiding estrogen secretion and thereby stimulating breast growth.
Note: Milk spoils over time due to bacterial growth. Consuming spoiled milk not only fails to provide nutrition but may cause illness.
Chinese Yam
Chinese yam is highly regarded in traditional Chinese medicine as an excellent tonic for deficiency. Rich in mucopolysaccharides, it strengthens the spleen, benefits the kidneys, replenishes essence, and boosts vital energy. The most nutritious components reside in its mucilage, containing mannans—a water-soluble hemicellulose that expands 80–100 times upon hydration, promoting satiety. Consequently, many women regard it as a premier "weight-loss food."
The high-quality protein in yam, when blended with yogurt in a cup, creates a drink that promotes breast enhancement.
Note: Yam contains relatively high starch content, so those with dry stools or constipation should consume it sparingly. Additionally, as a tonic herb with a sweet, neutral, and slightly warming nature, individuals with a warm constitution or prone to heatiness should exercise caution.
